Procurement Legal Specialist
* Reporting to a senior legal professional on the in-house team, the Procurement Legal Specialist will be working on a wide range of agreements to procure goods and services.
* The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of procurement legislation and strong commercial contract law experience.
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Legal Specialist to join our in-house legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice on all supply chain contract and procurement matters, including construction contracts.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Drafting, negotiating, reviewing and updating various tender documents, standard forms and bespoke contracts.
2. Managing and supporting third-party specialists, including external lawyers, to deliver required business outcomes.
3. Identifying areas of potential legal risk, developing reporting structures in relation to those risks and conducting reviews where required.
4. Promoting legal awareness and communicating to the business when legal input should be sought.
5. Delivering in-house training on areas of interest to the wider business.
6. Monitoring relevant construction, contracts law and procurement legislative changes and case-law affecting the conduct of the company's business.
7. Ensuring that continuing professional development is maintained and that professional knowledge remains current, by participating in appropriate training / courses / seminars.
8. Attendance at various internal committees related to contract approvals.
Requirements:
Qualified Solicitor with circa 5 years post-qualification experience, including at least 2 years in commercial contracts – experience of construction and/or health and safety laws is advantageous but not essential.
Knowledge of public procurement procedures and legislation desirable.
Ability to deal confidently and professionally with day-to-day issues and handle complex issues with limited supervision.
Team-oriented and collegiate with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team.
Solution-orientated, i.e. ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than a purely 'academic' approach to legal issues.
Ability to set your own high standards of performance.
