Monaghan County Council, or Comhairle Contae Mhuineacháin, is responsible for local government in Monaghan. It is one of 31 Local Authorities in the Republic of Ireland, serving as the closest and most accessible form of government to citizens.
The council provides a diverse range of services across the county, including housing, transportation, planning, infrastructure, environmental protection, recreation, community development, and emergency services. It plays a key role in supporting economic development. The administrative headquarters is located in Monaghan Town.
Monaghan County Council consists of 18 elected members, elected every five years across three municipal districts: Ballybay–Clones, Monaghan, and Carrickmacross–Castleblayney. The council is supported by five Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs), which advise on policy development and review, drawing membership from the council and relevant sectoral representatives.
Currently, an opportunity exists for the position of Financial Management Accountant within the Finance Department. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Finance and will be responsible for modernising and managing change within the finance function, including introducing new initiatives, policies, and procedures, and working with multidisciplinary teams.
