Job Title:
Ecosystem Carbon Modelling Specialist
This is a temporary contract position working on ecosystem carbon modelling, with an indicative duration of 17 months. The role involves working on measuring and validating CO2 fluxes, soil organic carbon, and aiding in the development of Measurement, Reporting and Verification systems using various models.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage measurement data from multiple sites
* Validate ecosystem GHG models and aid in model development
* Gather farm activity data required for EC data interpretation and model use
* Contribute to sample management, equipment maintenance, and quality control
* Perform electronic data entry using Teagasc's data management system and record results
The successful candidate will join a well-resourced team conducting C sequestration research and oversee the project improving understanding of soil type and land-use management practice effects on CO2 fluxes, soil carbon pools, and carbon sequestration.
Requirements:
* A degree in computer science, mathematics or statistics or a related discipline
* Experience in process-based modelling techniques, data handling, coding skills (R, Python or C++), and statistical analysis
This position is based in Teagasc's Environment, Soils and Land-use Department at Johnstown Castle, Wexford.
