OverviewPrestwick Aircraft Maintenance (PAM) is a subsidiary of Ryanair providing base maintenance services exclusively to the Ryanair Airline group, located around Europe. The Ryanair group operates a fleet of more than 624 Boeing 737-800 and 737-8200 aircraft and continues to expand. We are seeking a Safety Engineer at the Shannon maintenance site (Ireland), reporting to the PAM Safety Manager for the PAM Safety function within EASA/UK CAA regulatory requirements.ResponsibilitiesManage the safety and information security reporting scheme and the occurrence reporting system.Oversee performance and follow-up actions for occurrence investigations.Coordinate and act on airworthiness occurrences, information security incidents, and identified vulnerabilities; initiate further investigation as needed.Support communication with appropriate authorities on safety issues.Provide information and suggestions for improvement on safety operation to the Safety Manager and Deputy Safety Manager.Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessments, and risk management within the PAM group or external forums.Monitor implementation of actions to mitigate risks as listed in the safety action plan unless followed up by the compliance monitoring function.Gather and develop safety information for Safety Review Board or other safety-related meetings.Develop safety information within Safety Actions Group meetings.Conduct safety training for staff and ensure training meets acceptable standards.Provide advice on safety matters to the PAM Safety Manager or Deputy.Develop recurrent training information arising from security incidents/issues.Ensure Mandatory Occurrences are reported to applicable Authority reporting systems as appropriate.Record safety performance indicators (SPIs) and safety performance targets (SPTs) and indicate when triggers are reached.Ensure Safety MACRO plan items are performed and closed in time.Liaise with Compliance Monitoring and Technical Standards in interface management to support safety objectives.Support and facilitate hazard identification and risk assessments within PAM group when necessary.Investigate occurrence reports in line with ‘Just Culture’ and maintain confidentiality rules.Attend Safety department meetings and prepare reports for the Safety Manager.Ensure accurate recording of hours worked in the Safety department recording system.Prepare safety data for site-specific meetings.Develop material for safety communication channels such as HMTV, CT, and monthly newsletters as applicable.RequirementsRelevant engineering or technical degree, or aircraft technician or other maintenance engineering-related experience.Practical experience and expertise in applying aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.Basic knowledge of EASA and UKCAA regulations is preferred.Knowledge of industry Safety Management System requirements is preferred.Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies (planning, conducting, and reporting) is preferred.Confident and effective interpersonal communication skills when dealing with engineering staff during investigations.Excellent communication skills.Highly self-motivated and proactive with initiative.Ability to work independently and take responsibility.Flexible approach to work to match operational requirements.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable learning new systems.Knowledge of continuous improvement tools/techniques.A valid passport with unrestricted right to travel in the UK/EEA and a valid driver’s license.Very good command of written and spoken English.Preferably security clearance to enter aviation security areas.Position includes travel of up to 15% around Ryanair group companies as required.Note: Responsibilities may be discussed and clarified before final agreement with the successful candidate depending on qualification and experience and/or personal aspirations.Seniority levelEntry levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionManagement and ManufacturingIndustriesAirlines and Aviation
