Senior Structural Engineer/Academic Mentor
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer/ Academic Mentor to join their team. As a respected main contractor in the Irish construction industry, they have multiple high-profile projects launching across the area. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in construction and engineering, with a strong academic background.
About the Role
* Plan, allocate, and manage resources effectively across projects.
* Oversee career development, providing mentorship and arranging training for team members under your supervision.
* Provide proactive advice and solutions to resolve project-related issues.
* Ensure adherence to the company's Quality Management System.
* Monitor and enforce compliance with Health and Safety protocols within your team.
Business Objectives
* Collaborate closely with Directors to support the achievement of the company's business objectives.
* Manage and cultivate client relationships, continuously expanding your understanding of clients, market trends, and project opportunities to strengthen existing partnerships and forge new ones.
* Assist in developing marketing strategies aimed at promoting the company, identifying potential leads, and converting them into project opportunities.
Project Responsibilities
* Prepare and develop fee proposals, perform contract reviews, and provide approval.
* Act as the main liaison for client interactions.
* Manage project cost control, overseeing the cost control efforts of your team and preparing project invoices.
* Negotiate fee variations with clients, while supervising team members during these processes.
Technical Expertise
* Enforce company policies and ensure alignment with organizational standards.
* Lead efforts to achieve design excellence within the company.
* Deliver innovative, sustainable, and profitable engineering solutions, with a focus on client satisfaction to secure repeat business.
* Confidently manage multiple projects across different stages and values with minimal Director oversight.
* Establish the appropriate design approach and develop initial concept designs.
* Prepare, review, and approve designs and supporting documentation to ensure technical accuracy and compliance.
Requirements
* Hold a Level 8/9 degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* Chartered status is essential, with preference for membership in the Institution of Structural Engineers.
* Bring at least 12 years of postgraduate experience, ideally gained in a consulting environment, with significant exposure to architect-led projects.
* Strong technical expertise, along with excellent communication and management abilities.
* Demonstrated commercial acumen, particularly in managing and understanding project budgets.
* Skilled in producing detailed, high-quality project reports, as well as chairing meetings and preparing minutes.
