Essential Qualifications and Skills
Candidates must:
* Have the requisite knowledge, skills, and competencies to carry out the role to a high standard.
* Be capable and competent of fulfilling the role to a high standard.
* Have obtained at least Grade O6 (formerly D3) in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes), or equivalent;
or
have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or higher;
or
have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
Applicants should have:
* A bachelor's degree in communications or a related field
* A minimum of 2–5 years' relevant experience in a communications role
* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
* Strong time-management and organisational skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms
Overview of the Role
The Digital Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and assisting in the management of digital communications to promote the WiSAR Lab and Technology Gateway and its projects. Reporting to the Academic Director of the WiSAR Lab, the post-holder will coordinate communications for EU- and nationally-funded research projects and promote the work of the Lab to regional, national, and international stakeholders.
The Communications Officer will coordinate and support internal and external communication strategies, write and disseminate publicity material, respond to public and media enquiries, and coordinate promotional events. The appointee will be an innovative, proactive, and experienced individual with the capacity to identify and develop a range of communication channels.
A strong record of digital communications work in an industrial, technology-based, or academic research environment is desirable. Experience in developing and coordinating communications and digital marketing strategies for European transnational research projects—such as Interreg or Horizon—is also desirable.
Duties
The main responsibilities of the Digital Communications Officer include:
* Assisting in the development and management of the communications and publicity schedule for the WiSAR Lab and Technology Gateway
* Developing communication plans for European multi-national projects
* Developing and maintaining the WiSAR Lab website and social media channels
* Developing and maintaining EU project websites and social media channels
* Designing artwork and content for logos, posters, and promotional materials
* Creating engaging content for press releases, radio, web, and social media platforms
* Creating and publishing regular newsletters
* Assisting in the organisation and promotion of events such as seminars, workshops, and conferences
* Creating and implementing digital marketing plans for events or projects
* Creating images, graphics, video, and photographic content related to the programme and events
* Ensuring that audience numbers on social media platforms are maximised and meet targets set by project managers
* Performing analytics on website traffic, social media followers, and maintaining a library of posts for project reporting
Salary
Salary Scale:
€51,723 – €61,863
Candidates external to the sector may be appointed up to the 3rd point (€54,845) of the salary scale in accordance with University policy.
