For the first time in Ireland, we facilitate Direct Payments to people with disabilities, enabling them to take control of their own budgets, their own services and, ultimately, their own lives.The Personal Care Assistant is required to assist a woman who has Triplegic Cerebral Palsy who is wheelchair bound.The successful candidates will receive training and development in line with the role. This role is suitable for highly motivated and reliable individual who is committed to provide care and supporting someone to live an independent life in their community.If you are looking for a new and exciting challenge and want to be part of a progressive organisation we would be delighted to receive an application from you.Location: Dublin 11.Duties and Responsibilities:· Assist to Hospital appointments.· Assist with the preparation of cooking meals.· Hair washing and shaving/showering/ Personal hygiene etc.· Assist with getting dressed.· Assist with mobility example using a hoist and other equipment example for use of toilet and showering.· Changing catheter bag to Day/night bag.· Assist with cleaning duties bathroom and bedroom.· Assist with any other tasks that I may require to undertake e.g. writing letters filling out forms etc.· Personal care to be treated with dignity and respect of client's privacy.· Collection of prescription if needed.· Assist with packing for holidays or daily outings.· Agree to Attending events and social activities if needed on a social call.· Social calls when needed, example is concerts, shows, cinema etc.Position Characteristics:An understanding of disability and the Independent Living movement.Ability to pay close attention to detail and follow clear instruction.Fluency in English Essential.Trusting and being aware of the importance of confidentiality.Patience is a key role and a Sence of humour and positive thinking would be a distinct advantage.The ability to think outside of the box.Some evening, antisocial and weekend hours will be required. (Anti-social and Sunday rates apply).Driving license an advantage but not essential.Must be able to work in Ireland.Being compassionate and understanding.QualificationsFETAC Level 5 in Social Care or equivalent training or experience.Manual handling experience / qualification essential.Must be available to attend mandatory training sessions.Flexibility.Must have a good knowledge of food hygiene / hygiene as it is very important role in the job.Garda Vetting and training to be completed.Applicants can apply to Job Type: Part-timePay: €16.00 per hourExpected hours: 12 – 20 per weekWork Location: In person
