Due to continued growth, one of my clients are recruiting for a Senior Substation Design Engineer to join the team and manage HV substation design works associated with a number of transmission and distribution projects. This client is a utility infrastructure consultancy and construction company, operating extensively within the utilities sector in Ireland, the UK and internationally. This is a full-time position based out of the Dublin office with Hybrid working and will require travel to sites once per month.Role:Design equipment (generators, UPS, switchgear, transformers, earthing systems)Prepare drawings (AutoCAD, MicroStation, EPLAN) and schematicsCreate electrical plant drawings and single-line diagramsDesign mechanical and electrical servicesEnsure compliance with IEC, EU standards, and building codesSupport project scoping, technical queries, and construction phasesComplete as-built drawings and assist with pre-commissioningConduct site reviews, audits, and engineering evaluationsRepresent PSDP, complete design risk assessments, and preliminary H&S plansManage multiple projects across regionsRequirements:Degree in Electrical Engineering (NFQ Level 8)4+ years’ relevant experience (preferred)Strong technical/design skills; AutoCAD knowledge a plus (training provided)Excellent communication, teamwork, and report-writing skillsFlexible, proactive, and able to prioritize tasks22 days annual leaveHealth Insurance DiscountDeath in Service payment and moreIf you are a Senior Substation Design Engineer who is looking for your next career move, send your CV to Oisín O’Donohoe or call 086 085 7455 for a confidential discussion.
