more exclusive features.Purpose of Role:This post along with the other Paediatric Emergency Medicine consultants will facilitate appropriate responsive consultant presence to ensure appropriate safe patient care within the Emergency and Urgent Care departments.Purpose of Role:This post along with the other Paediatric Emergency Medicine consultants will facilitate appropriate responsive consultant presence to ensure appropriate safe patient care within the Emergency and Urgent Care departments.The new model of care will deliver on the vision of the National Model of Care for Paediatric Healthcare Services (2016), for the delivery of safe and appropriate care to paediatric patients, as close to home as possible so that children and young people with urgent care needs get the right advice at the right place, first time.Within the Emergency departments and Urgent Care settings, the consultants will also oversee the short stay observation model, which helps prevent inpatient admissions and is associated with reduced average length of stay, reduced hospital costs and high levels of parental satisfaction.Essential Criteria:Professional Qualifications And ExperienceThe consultant must have completed training equivalent to that specified in the document “PAEDIATRIC EMERGENCY MEDICINE IN IRELAND Development to date and future direction”, 2021, which is published by the Emergency Medicine Programme and endorsed by the Faculty of Paediatrics, Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, The national clinical programme for Emergency Medicine, The Irish Committee for Emergency Medicine Training Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and the Irish Association for Emergency Medicine.Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of emergency medicineANDTwo years postgraduate training and experience in related paediatric specialties of which one year must be full time in paediatric emergency medicineORRegistration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of paediatricsANDTwo years postgraduate training and experience in related emergency specialties of which one year must be full time in paediatric emergency medicine.Desirable:Clinical fellowship training in Paediatric Emergency MedicineSkills / Competencies / Knowledge:Significant experience in clinical practice in delivery of acute unscheduled care across the spectrum of paediatric illness and injury at both local and national levelsExperienced clinician with credibility and the ability to command the respect of all clinical and non-clinical professionalsExperience of developing, applying and reviewing an evidence-based approach to decision makingContribute special-interest skills in the field of paediatric emergency medicine or subspecialty interests or training including but not limited to adolescent medicine, point of care ultrasound, major trauma, mental health, critical care etc.Excellent inter-personal skills, including experience and familiarity with public, professional, media and political communications and stakeholder relationsDemonstrate commitment to fostering partnerships, multi-professional and multi-disciplinary relationshipsDemonstrate a knowledge and undertaking of the current governance structures and anticipated changes with the establishment of the new children’s hospitalExperience in reconfiguring acute services across organisations and regionsDemonstrate leadership and team management skills including the ability to manage his/her staff and service and work with multi-disciplinary team membersExperience of operating in complex and challenging environmentsKnowledge of the Irish health sector, national clinical programmes, national health programmes and health reform agendasStrong negotiation and influencing skillsEffective change management skillsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenRisk and issue management skillsAbility to recognise and respect the expertise of others and the contribution of team members and harness good teamwork and open contributions to enable the achievement of programme aimsDemonstrate evidence of effective planning and organising skills including
