Our public affairs practice is a leader in the Irish market. We advise a variety of clients on public policy issues and help them achieve better outcomes, whether that is capitalising on legislative developments or mitigating a policy risk. We advise senior executives across a range of sectors, from technology to pharma to financial services to not-for-profits, on their engagement with the Irish Government, local authorities, civil service and European institutions and regularly design and implement strategies to effect policy change.

Our experienced public affairs team have worked at the highest levels of Government and politics and have a deep understanding of the trends, factors and stakeholders affecting the public policy environment. Our offering also includes political monitoring, expert advice and operational support for public information campaigns, public consultations and committee appearances.

Purpose of the role:

As a trusted advisor, you will provide strategic counsel to clients, identify business challenges and opportunities and provide Public Affairs strategy and advice as necessary.

You will also advise on the political process in Ireland across local, national and European agendas and will be required to analyse and interpret legislative proposals.

Your role will involve advising clients on business and commercial interests and support in media relations.

The Director will work as part of a strong public affairs team but will also have a role in supporting clients' corporate communications needs.

The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering Public Affairs strategies, a working knowledge of the Oireachtas and excellent leadership skills. The successful candidate will play an active role in driving and shaping Drury's Public Affairs offering.

Responsibilities

* Providing astute strategic public affairs and corporate communications counsel to a dedicated portfolio of clients
* Supporting the growth agenda of the division and business by helping to identity and secure new business opportunities
* Supervising the work of account teams to ensure client service delivery of the highest standards
* Actively participating in internal initiatives such as product development, training, mentoring and recruitment
* Promoting yourself and Drury through marketing and networking initiatives
* Managing the commerciality of a client portfolio, including invoicing and budgeting
* Keeping abreast of industry developments; continuously increasing sectoral knowledge

Indicative functions

* Developing a deep understanding of your clients' business and anticipating their needs
* Delivering integrated public affairs and communications campaigns around major announcements, effectively managing expectations around outcomes
* Supporting clients with communications advice at times of crisis while engaging with media and other stakeholders to influence optimal outcomes
* Provide foresight and insight to clients and the division, continuously scanning the horizon for evolving or emerging issues and opportunities
