Staffline are recruiting on behalf of NHSCT for a Band 5 Aids & Adaptations Works Officer (Building/Engineering) required on a temporary basis based in Antrim.
Role: Band 5 Aids & Adaptations Works Officer Rate of Pay: £15.33 Location: Holywell, Antrim Hours: 37.5hrs Duration: 3 Months initially Main duties/Responsibilities: Validation of work requests received from Allied Health Professionals (AHP's) and the allocation of work orders to external contractors and Directly Employed Labour (DEL) via the Trusts nominated computer based systems.
Acting as team leader and co-ordinator.
This will involve taking the lead in job planning, development, liaison with Estate Managers and other Estates personnel whilst providing an effective service.
Efficiently and effectively organising resources including labour, transportation and materials (including requisition, supply, deployment and security).
Be responsible for satisfactory timekeeping and conduct of subordinate staff under his/her control, ensuring the daily running of the service in the provision of Building/Engineering works.
Ensuring acceptable standards of productivity and workmanship in the execution of programmes of work, measured term contracts or works provided by DEL staff.
Carry out measurement of jobs, inspecting job locations, preparing feasibilities, proposals, reports, measurements and sketches for his/her executed works or information received from external sources.
Assisting on calculations needed for Estate Management, including performance management reports.
Assist in the operation of the Backtraq Information Management System and ensuring that its information is regularly updated.
Supervising Building and Engineering provision/maintenance/repair works, via DEL or external contractors.
Assist in the preparation, development and maintenance of Estate Services plans and records including drawings, operational manuals, product manuals and maintenance schedules Assist in the monitoring and the coordination of the Building and Engineering Works Observing statutory and other relevant requirements in particular those related to health and safety Fulfilling the relevant duties outlined as best practice in Health Technical Memoranda Fulfilling requirements relating to the selection, training and instruction of Craftsmen and apprentices Referring and reporting to immediate superiors as required.
Liaising with other disciplines including Occupational Therapists (OT's) and other AHP's while assisting in the provision of adaptations (Building and Engineering).
Assist the Estates Managers in providing information for the preparation of reports and statistical data and to maintain databases within his/her area of work.
Carry out quality checks relating to all areas of works within the Aids & Adaptations service, including Building and Engineering works.
Assisting the Estates Manager with responsibility for carrying out and reporting on Building and Engineering feasibility surveys for AHP's, were joint visits may be required to determine the outcome of a problem.
The postholder will be expected to deal with client's and client's families on a daily basis where he/she may be required to deal with sometimes difficult situations in distressing family circumstances.
Deal with daily queries from AHP's, contractors, clients and their families whilst maintaining an adequate level of service.
T o assist the Estates Manager by liaising with stores and staff under his/her control to ensure adequate stock levels of materials are maintained for the provision of the works within the service and the ordering of specific pieces of equipment requested by AHP's to satisfy the requirements of the community clients.
Responsible for the validated of contractors financial claims/invoices and supporting information for all areas within the Aids & Adaptations service, checking of rates and materials for the works completed.
The processing of the all invoices within the Aids & Adaptations service on the Trusts nominated financial system for the approval of the Estates Managers.
Utilising time not spent on supervisory duties and estimating duties on Craftwork Co-operate within a versatile Building and Engineering Works and Aids & Adaptations team Comply with Estates operational systems and quality assurance procedures Participation in the provision of an on-call system in accordance with the locally negotiated agreement if required.
Assist in the development and maintenance of the Estate Services Asset Register using computer based systems Assist in the scheduling/monitoring of a planned maintenance servicing for all equipment provided within the Community Aids & Adaptations service.
Assist Senior Managers in the planning and costing of works and the provision of adaptations within the service.
Taking charge of other areas of work to provide holiday, sickness, study leave and absence cover for other supervisors and Estate Officers Procure all Aids & Adaptation provisions and maintenance work from contractors, in accordance with Trust documentation procedures to completion, completing and recording all adaptations and costs etc.
as appropriate for review.
Performance of any other duties which may be assigned from time to time by Senior Managers Deputise for the other Estates Officers within the Aids & Adaptations service as required.
Essential Criteria: BTEC National Certificate in Architecture, Building, Surveying, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equal qualification.
PLUS 2 years' post qualification relevant experience in Building / Engineering Maintenance and supervising Building / Engineering Maintenance trade staff.
OR A recognised and registered Building / Engineering CITB apprenticeship.
PLUS 3 years post apprenticeship relevant experience in Building / Engineering Maintenance and supervising Building / Engineering Maintenance trade staff.
OR Other approved training/apprenticeship as would be considered appropriate to meet this job description.
