Haemovigilance Officer
This role involves overseeing the non-medical aspects of blood transfusions and collaborating with clinical departments.
1. RUN A SAFE AND EFFECTIVE HAEMOVIGILANCE SERVICE IN COLLABORATION WITH CLINICAL DEPARTMENTS.
2. E nsure that transfusion practice is in accordance with hospital policies.
3. To revise existing hospital transfusion policy as necessary, working closely with the Blood Transfusion Committee and professional peers.
Clinical responsibilities include investigating incidents related to blood transfusions and suspected reactions, reporting on such events to relevant personnel, attending committee meetings, and following up on haemovigilance issues. Additionally, quality assurance audit systems are developed to ensure traceability against international standards.
Liaise regularly with laboratory staff including consultants directors medical scientists nursing staff ward managers other stakeholders implement new developments area responsible for managing blood products,
