Data Analyst/ BI Analyst- Perm Role Cork
An established international organisation is seeking a Business Intelligence Support Engineer to join its growing BI team. This role will focus on supporting and enhancing an enterprise Power BI environment, while contributing to the ongoing evolution of the company's modern data and analytics platform.
Working closely with senior BI professionals and business stakeholders, the successful candidate will take ownership of support requests, troubleshooting, report development, and data modelling activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong Power BI expertise who is looking to further develop their skills across the Microsoft Fabric and Azure ecosystem.
Successful candidate will be required to be onsite 2 days a week in West Cork.
Key Responsibilities
Triage, prioritise, and resolve Power BI incidents, dashboard issues, and enhancement requests within agreed SLAs.
Design and develop intuitive, high-performing Power BI reports and semantic models using DAX and Power Query.
Develop and maintain SQL queries and curated datasets, ensuring strong performance and data quality standards.
Define and execute test cases, validate fixes, and document outcomes to support reliable BI delivery.
Manage BI assets using Git-based version control and contribute to deployment and release processes.
Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define acceptance criteria, and provide regular progress updates.
Create and maintain support documentation, knowledge articles, FAQs, and troubleshooting playbooks.
Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and task estimation.
Monitor report usage, adoption, and performance metrics, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
3-5 years' experience delivering Power BI solutions in a commercial environment.
Strong expertise in:
Power BI
DAX
Power Query
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and data warehouse concepts.
High attention to detail and consistency across calculations, reporting logic, and design standards.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Strong organisational and prioritisation skills within a fast-paced support environment.
Experience with SQL Server, including joins, window functions, and stored procedures.
Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Warehouse, Lakehouse architecture, Pipelines, or Notebooks.
Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices within BI or analytics environments.
