Background
Our client are looking for a Site Engineer who will work under the guidance of the Site Agent/Construction Manager and play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered successfully — on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The role requires someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the organisation, planning, and delivery of civil engineering projects of varying scale.
Work closely with the Construction Manager to coordinate resources and oversee project progress, ensuring accurate measurement and reporting of works.
Support the Site Foreman in managing the workforce, sourcing plant and materials, and monitoring productivity and cost-effectiveness.
Promote and uphold health and safety standards on site, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company systems (including ISO standards).
Manage elements of the project plan, preparing weekly and daily programmes and ensuring resources are scheduled effectively.
Supervise and coordinate both direct employees and subcontractors to deliver according to project requirements.
Carry out setting out, checking, and surveying as required for the project.
Oversee material requisitions, ensuring timely scheduling in line with the programme.
Maintain accurate site records, including measurements, drawings, as-built documents, and registers.
Lead and guide the workforce with professionalism, maintaining clear direction and high standards.
Keep detailed daily site diaries and resource allocation records.
Monitor and maintain the quality of construction outputs, contributing to quality control and assurance processes.
Support monthly reporting on project measures and contribute to cost control.
Key Skills Required
Degree in Civil Engineering (BSc, BEng, MEng, or equivalent).
3 years of practical experience on civil engineering projects.
Proficient in the use of engineering software and digital tools.
Strong interpersonal abilities, with excellent written and spoken English.
A proven team player who can also work effectively on their own initiative.
