OpportunityWe have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated Hydrologist to join our growing water and environment team at Stantec.About the RoleThis role offers the chance to deliver hydrological assessments and technical inputs across a wide range of infrastructure, water, and development projects. You will take ownership of key assessments, contribute to high‑profile projects, and develop expertise in flood risk management, drainage, and environmental reporting within the Irish regulatory framework.The role supports career progression, professional development, mentoring, and opportunities to expand technical and project‑management skills.ResponsibilitiesLead and deliver robust hydrological assessments, including flood risk, drainage impact, and surface‑water studies.Collect, analyse, and interpret hydrological and meteorological data.Support the preparation of technical reports and environmental submissions, including EIAR inputs and regulatory assessments.Contribute to project scoping, planning, and programming activities.Work collaboratively with engineering, environmental, and planning disciplines to inform client decisions and project approvals.Advise on flood‑risk mitigation, drainage design, and environmental protection, influencing outcomes for communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems.Qualifications and ExperienceMotivated hydrology professional with experience in surface water assessments, data analysis, and environmental reporting within the Irish regulatory context.Solid understanding of flood‑risk management, drainage design principles, and relevant legislation and guidance.Strong analytical, communication, and report‑writing skills with ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.Enthusiastic about sustainable water management and committed to delivering high‑quality technical outputs.Technical SkillsUndertaking hydrological assessments including flood risk assessments (FRA), drainage impact assessments, and surface water studies.Collecting, analysing, and interpreting hydrological and meteorological data.Supporting the preparation of technical reports and environmental submissions, including EIAR inputs and regulatory assessments.Contributing to project scoping, planning, and programming activities.BenefitsA friendly, inclusive and collaborative environment where everyone feels valued.Industry‑leading training and development plus paid professional subscriptions and a progression plan to become chartered.Supportive and collaborative team environment to assist career growth.Growth opportunities across Ireland.Competitive salary, enhanced pension plan, private medical insurance, group income protection and life assurance.
