OverviewJoin to apply for the Project Engineer - Electrical role at Ethos Engineering.We are seeking a motivated Electrical Project Engineer with 3–5 years of experience in building services design to join our Engineering Studio — a collaborative pool of engineers supporting multiple projects across the business. The Engineering Studio sits at the heart of our technical delivery, providing expertise across data centres, industrial, energy, pharmaceutical, and commercial sectors.This is a hybrid role based in Ireland (3 days in the office).
Day-to-day responsibilitiesDeliver defined electrical design under the supervision of Senior Engineers or Project Leads.Support the design of power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, ICT, and low-voltage systems from concept through detailed design and construction documentation.Perform load calculations, cable sizing, fault level assessments, and lighting designs using appropriate software tools.Assist in preparing schematics, single-line diagrams, and detailed layouts for electrical systems.Contribute to the development of tender documentation, specifications, and technical reports.Ensure design outputs meet CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS, and EN standards, as well as client and project-specific requirements.Participate in QA/QC reviews, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with internal standards.Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to address technical queries and coordinate site interfaces.Collaborate closely with mechanical, structural, and sustainability teams to deliver coordinated multidisciplinary designs.Maintain project documentation and ensure all deliverables meet agreed deadlines and quality benchmarks.Support internal coordination meetings, share learnings across the Engineering Studio, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.Take responsibility for smaller system packages (e.g. small power or emergency lighting), with technical mentoring from senior engineers.
Candidate attributes and qualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering.3–5 years’ experience in electrical building services design, ideally within a consultancy environment.Exposure to at least one of the following sectors: data centres, industrial, energy, pharmaceutical, or commercial buildings.Working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.Demonstrated experience in technical coordination, documentation, and task-driven project delivery.Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Bluebeam; familiar with BIM coordination processes.Experience with Dialux, Relux, and Amtech (or equivalent) for electrical calculations and lighting design.Working knowledge of ETAP or other electrical system analysis tools (advantageous).Understanding of Irish Building Regulations, CIBSE Guides, and IEC/BS/EN standards for electrical systems.Competent in preparing technical specifications, reports, and detailed electrical drawings.
