**Job Title:** Mechanical Design Engineer - Data Center Innovation
We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our global engineering team. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for designing and continuously innovating mechanical services systems for our expanding data center footprint.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Lead design efforts within the group and collaborate with internal teams to understand user requirements.
2. Participate in site selection reviews and manage design consultancy firms to create, review, and release data center designs.
3. Manage change, versioning, and configuration control, as well as work with local utilities to define site utility requirements.
4. Define project scopes, request for proposals (RFP), and request for information (RFI), and ensure compliance with city/county requirements and building codes.
5. Work with commissioning teams to validate installation, operation, and performance of systems.
6. Travel for site reviews and conduct engineering evaluations, audits, and site launches.
7. Review and approve equipment submittals, and troubleshoot problems and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA) for design-related problems.
8. Define project scopes and provide support during construction phases, and work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify appropriate mechanical equipment.
**A Day in the Life:**
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering innovative designs from concept to permit and construction document set. You will directly support construction and be part of the process from site selection review through commissioning and turnover. Your expertise will be relied upon to inform design decisions.

**Required Skills and Qualifications:**
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering with several years of experience in mission-critical air and water cooling HVAC design.
* Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
* Ability to carry new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment/construction.
* The ability to perform complex business case analysis to justify technical decisions and present the justification to management.
**Preferred Qualifications:
* Chartered Engineer with Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* Experience directly related to data center or mission-critical facility design, such as Pharmaceutical, Hospital, or Semi-Conductor projects.
* Understanding of BIM & CFD modeling.
* Previous consultant negotiation and management skills associated with design, construction, and project execution.
* Experience with fast-track design/build projects and/or multiple significant upgrade projects.
* Experience with large-scale technical operations or large-scale compute farms.
