A vacancy has arisen for a Graduate Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSHE) Officer to work within the Safety & Compliance Department.
The role is ideally suited for a recent graduate wishing to gain valuable experience in Occupational Safety, Health, Environment and Facilities.
This role will be a 2-year fixed contract with a view to a permanent position, based onsite at Dublin Airport and Ashbourne.
Reporting to the Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Manager, the successful candidate will gain experience through guidance and ongoing support.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the development and maintenance of the Company's Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Management System and the Industrial Emissions License (IE license) of the organization.
KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work as part of the OSHE team to ensure the provision of a safe and productive work environment in Airport and Ashbourne site.
Assist the OSHE Manager to maintain and update the company's health & safety policy, safety statement, and the environmental compliance programme.
Maintain and update the Risk assessments, including chemical RAs.
Monitor and enforce the implementation and development of the Company's safety, health and environmental management system (including hazard identification and risk assessment).
Management of the company's facilities ensuring all health & safety and environment issues are flagged and addressed in an effective and timely manner.
Ensure that all relevant policies and procedures are reviewed periodically and documented correctly to comply with all relevant statutes, standards and licenses.
Provide support in identifying site specific hazards and ensure they are addressed in the site documentation and in a practical manner on the site.
Proactively develop, design, and contribute to implement safety, health and environment improvement projects.
Promote zero accidents at work culture, collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless implementation of EHS controls and operational practices.
Promote hazard and incident reporting amongst employees, carry out accident, incident and near –miss investigation as required.
Ensure strict adherence to site rules by all employees and contractors.
Carry out audits and inspections as required and address non-conformances identified.
Contribute to toolbox talks, safety communications across the organisation.
Manage all hazardous and non-hazardous waste shipments.
Control and manage PPE, and first aid stock levels for the facilities.
Other works relating to environment, health & safety and facilities as required.
Responsible for the H&S Training programme company wide.
Liaise with customers and suppliers as required.
Liaise with regulatory bodies (HSA, EPA, etc.) consultants (Ecovadis), and auditors (DAA, IAG) regarding safety and environmental matters and audit preparedness.
Develop, complete, and submit required environmental studies, assessments, notifications, and reports within regulatory timelines.
Contribute towards management and maintaining the company's industrial emissions License.
KEY COMPETENCIES / SKILLS REQUIRED:
The ability to 'think on your feet' and act with responsibility and professionalism.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of written and oral communication skills.
Willingness to travel to other company sites when necessary.
Expert knowledge of safety and environmental legislation resulting in the ability to apply best practice and full compliance within the company.
To have strong analytical skills and ability to present findings.
To be methodical, ability to multitask, pay attention to detail and be accurate.
To be good at working with people at all levels and willing to work in a team.
To be willing to accept responsibility for completing designated tasks in time.
To be self-motivated with ability to work on own initiative.
A willingness to improve and the ability to adapt in a fast-changing business and regulatory environment.
Excellent level of computer literacy (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Proven experience of professional liaison with third parties.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Bachelor of Science (Environmental, Health & Safety), post graduate qualification desirable, graduated in past 5 years.
Relevant work experience desirable
Strong willingness to learn and develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills in EHS.
Ability to obtain and maintain a current valid airside pass / able to pass a 5-year security background check.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Permitted to live and work in the Republic of Ireland without restriction.
