We are recruiting for a full time Cook to join our team at Dungannon Care Home.
This role is 37.5 hours per week.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Cooking Responsibilities
* Revising the Homes menu on a regular basis as per home policy and minimum standards
* Ensuring all food orders are requested with ample time while working within agreed parameters
* Maintaining a hygienically clean kitchen at all times
* Monitoring dietary requirements and ensuring they are met as necessary
* Preparing meals at an agreed time as required by the home and residents
* Distributing scheduled meals in a timely manner
* Offering and preparing meal options for residents to include main food groups
* Monitoring meals prepared by kitchen staff and delegating work accordingly
* Reporting equipment requirements or maintenance issues in a timely fashion
* Maintaining cleaning schedules and ensuring all areas are cleaned as per rota
* Ensuring all food returned to the fridge is covered with cling film and dated
* Maintaining appropriate kitchen protocol (e.g. no eating in the kitchen, carers not washing hands at the kitchen sink)
* Ensuring frozen foods are taken out of the freezer giving ample time to defrost
* Adhering to and ensuring safe practice according to Health and Safety policies
* Adhering to Food Hygiene Regulations and HACCP
General Responsibilities
* Participating in induction programme and in-service training
* Attending and participating in staff meetings and attending all training when required
* Communicating effectively with other staff, relatives and visitors including professional agencies regarding residents
* Adhering to and ensuring safe practice according to Health and Safety policies
* Familiarizing yourself with current policies and procedures and understanding your duty to comply and implement them when necessary
Essential Criteria
* GCSE Maths and English
* BASIC IT skills
* Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
* Experience within a care home setting (preferred but not essential)
* NVQ level 2 or 3 desirable but not essential
