Job Type: Data Analyst / Power BI Developer
Duration: 6-Month Daily Rate (with potential to extend)
Job Description: Our client, a leading financial services organisation, is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to support the enhancement and delivery of enterprise reporting and analytics solutions across a modern cloud‑based data platform. This role will focus on data analysis, reporting development, testing, and business engagement within a fast‑paced environment.
Job Responsibilities
Gather and interpret business requirements, translating them into clear reporting and data specifications.
Analyse, validate and reconcile datasets within a cloud‑based data warehouse environment using SQL.
Develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports to support business decision‑making.
Support the enhancement of data models, semantic layers and reporting calculations to improve self‑service analytics capabilities.
Participate in system integration testing and user acceptance testing activities, including defect identification and resolution support.
Investigate and resolve day‑to‑day data and reporting issues in collaboration with technical and business teams.
Contribute to data governance and data quality initiatives by supporting controls, reconciliations and validation processes.
Produce and maintain documentation including report specifications, testing evidence and user support materials.
Engage with key stakeholders across business and technical teams to ensure reporting solutions align with operational requirements.
Assist in driving data adoption and continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.
Experience Required
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Data Analyst, BI Analyst or Reporting Analyst position.
Strong SQL experience with the ability to analyse and validate complex datasets.
Proven hands‑on experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI.
Experience working with cloud‑based data platforms such as Snowflake or similar technologies.
Strong understanding of data modelling concepts and reporting best practices.
Experience supporting testing activities including UAT and system testing.
Ability to troubleshoot reporting and data‑related issues in a business‑critical environment.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Experience operating within regulated or data‑intensive environments would be advantageous.
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
Desirable Skills
Experience with DAX calculations and semantic modelling within Power BI.
Exposure to data governance and data quality frameworks.
Understanding of cloud‑based analytics and reporting ecosystems.
Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.
Previous experience supporting self‑service reporting environments.
Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience is beneficial.
Educational Requirements
Third‑level degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Information Systems or a related discipline.
