Kate Cowhig International Healthcare Recruitment are recruiting a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 for a Elderly Care Service, Dublin, Ireland.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities: Provide a wide range of physical health monitoring and treatment services to residents with a range of severe and enduring mental health issues and neuropsychiatric disorders including Huntingtons disease, Alzheimers disease, dementia, schizophrenia, and Parkinsons disease.
Monitor and manage residents with long-term conditions/chronic diseases in conjunction with the GP and MDT, e.g., diabetes, respiratory illness and COPD, CHD, obesity and hypertension, smoking cessation.
Carry out vaccinations and immunisations for residents and staff as required by the service.
Undertake screening, including, though not exhaustive, BP checks, height, weight, BMI, urinalysis, ECG, Spirometry, and new resident checks.
Carry out general nursing duties like, but not limited to, health promotion and education, Phlebotomy, Ear Irrigation, administering prescribed long-term medications/injections, etc.
Skin/Wound Care duties such as, but not limited to, treatment of venous leg ulcers and other skin injuries, assessment and treatment of skin lacerations, management of skin conditions eczema, psoriasis.
Participate in Emergency Management, such as anaphylaxis and resuscitation techniques for residents when required.
Participate in and deliver training and education relating to general health nurse monitoring.
Develop and maintain physical health care plans collaboratively with residents, staff, and Multidisciplinary Teams, in accordance with policies.
Communicate with residents, their relatives or carers relevant physical healthcare information and provide health promotion advice, when necessary.
Critically appraise and evaluate physical health monitoring and care practices through a structured audit programme to demonstrate compliance with Mental Health Commission regulation and requirements on General Health monitoring.
Liaise with nurses and medical staff on clinical and physiological observations, monitoring tests, and physical care interventions.
Relay guidance and audit on the safe use of medical devices and monitoring equipment.
Support members of the Multidisciplinary Team on physical healthcare and infection prevention initiatives.
Complete audits to scrutinise compliance with physical health care policies and advise on action plans from findings.
Attend and participate in MDT and other appropriate and related meetings.
Ensure continued personal development and updating of skills and knowledge to carry out the role and support the development of practice within the inpatient service.
Carry out any administrative tasks required for the role.
Candidate Specifications: Must be a Registered General Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the NMBI.
At least 3 years post-registration nursing experience.
Must be a European passport holder - no sponsorship available.
At least 3 years post-registration nursing experience.
Experience working in adult mental health services is an advantage.
Advanced healthcare skills.
Experience in Venepuncture/ Phlebotomy and ECG monitoring, and knowledge of primary care practice.
Experience in the management of long-term conditions, e.g., COPD, diabetes, CHD, etc.
Experience in nursing practice and assessment in continence, tissue viability, management, and treatment of minor injuries/illness.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills IT proficient.
Excellent organisational skills.
