SAP Consultant Role Overview
The SAP consultant is accountable for implementing, configuring and maintaining SAP PM solutions within a pharmaceutical manufacturing setting. They ensure maintenance processes align with regulatory requirements (such as GxP, GMP, and FDA) and contribute to digital transformation initiatives that enhance plant reliability, compliance, and operational efficiency.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in SAP PM configuration and support, including at least 2 years in a pharmaceutical or highly regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Facilitate the implementation and ongoing support of SAP PM modules, ensuring alignment with pharmaceutical industry standards and compliance regulations.
* Analyze complex business process requirements and develop effective SAP system solutions; identify, interpret, validate, and document customer needs.
* Lead workshops to gather business requirements and map them to SAP PM functionalities.
* Design, customize, configure, and test SAP PM solutions, including integration with other modules (e.g., MM, QM, PP) as needed for end-to-end process coverage.
* Identify process gaps, issues, and propose practical workarounds or enhancements.
* Act as a liaison between business stakeholders (maintenance, engineering, quality, IT) and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and effective troubleshooting.
* Document functional designs, test cases, validation protocols, and results in accordance with pharma documentation standards.
* Support and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), training, and change management activities.
* Ensure all SAP PM processes and configurations comply with regulatory standards (GxP, GMP, FDA, etc.) and internal quality policies.
* Provide ongoing support for SAP PM, including incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Participate in audits and inspections, providing evidence of system compliance and supporting remediation activities as needed.
Required Skills & Experience: Strong knowledge of GxP, GMP, and other regulatory requirements relevant to pharma manufacturing and maintenance. Familiarity with integration points between SAP PM and other modules (MM, QM, PP, etc.). Proven ability to facilitate workshops, gather requirements, and translate business needs into SAP solutions. Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Experience supporting audits and ensuring system compliance. Project management or Six Sigma certification is a plus. Experience with digital transformation initiatives in manufacturing or maintenance.
