Finance Director, Ireland Senior Leadership Role in Consumer-Facing Retail & Food Business | Dublin / Ireland (Exclusive Search)We are supporting a well-established consumer-facing retail and food business that is seeking a Finance Director - Ireland for a key strategic and operational leadership role.
They are looking for an experienced and commercially minded finance leader to take ownership of the Ireland finance function, provide strategic insight and governance, and partner with the leadership team to drive growth, efficiency, and long-term profitability.
About the Role This is a senior financial leadership position reporting into the UK based Group Head of Finance and working closely with the Country Director.
The Finance Director will lead the Ireland finance team, covering financial control, FP&A, and operational finance.
The role requires a strategic thinker who is hands-on when needed and comfortable operating in a fast-moving, complex environment with multiple commercial streams.
You will influence decisions across retail, food, and property operations, ensuring financial rigour, control, and insight are applied across all areas.
This is a high-impact position, offering the opportunity to shape the future of the Ireland business and deliver tangible results across finance, operations, and growth initiatives.
Core Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Business Partnering Partner with the Ireland Leadership Team to deliver strategic plans, providing financial insight and challenge.
Support key business initiatives including pricing strategy, growth evaluations, and operational efficiency.
Drive profit improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to streamline operations.
Champion data-driven decision-making and performance management.
Governance, Control & Compliance Lead forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning processes.
Ensure financial governance, compliance, and risk management are robust.
Act as Board Member and Company Secretary, ensuring compliance with corporate requirements.
Oversee timely and accurate financial reporting for internal stakeholders.
Ensure tax compliance and liaise with relevant advisors as needed.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
Drive finance transformation initiatives, embedding process optimisation, automation, and digital tools.
Shape and execute an end-state vision for the Ireland Finance function aligned with operational and strategic goals.
External Representation & Treasury Represent the finance function externally with auditors, tax authorities, and pension trustees.
Work with Group Treasury to ensure alignment with wider financial objectives.
What We're Looking For A proven senior finance leader with commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to operate across a large, complex, consumer-facing business.
Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) with strong post-qualification experience.
Significant experience in complex, consumer-facing, multi-stream businesses.
Strong technical expertise in FP&A and financial controllership.
Proven success in leading finance transformation and change initiatives.
Exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders.
Highly Desirable: Experience in multi-entity, cross-border environments.
Familiarity with emerging finance systems and technologies, including automation and data analytics.
Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and culturally agile, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
