Senior Tax Leadership Role
The Indirect Tax Director is a critical leadership position responsible for driving the overall strategy and compliance of an organization’s indirect tax function across multiple jurisdictions.
This role ensures that the company maximizes its tax efficiency while adhering to all relevant local, national, and international tax laws.
* Tax Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement effective indirect tax strategies (VAT, GST, sales and use tax, property tax, etc.) to optimize the company’s tax position and minimize risk
* Compliance and Reporting: Oversee the accurate and timely preparation, review, and filing of all indirect tax returns and related reports across various domestic and international jurisdictions
* Risk Management and Audits: Identify and assess potential tax risks and opportunities, implement internal controls (e.g. SOX compliance), manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities, and lead negotiations for issue resolution
* Advisory and Collaboration: Serve as the subject matter expert on indirect tax matters, advising senior leadership and cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, IT, Operations, etc.) on the tax implications of business activities, transactions, and new initiatives (e.g. M&A, international expansion)
* Process Improvement and Technology: Identify opportunities for process improvements, drive the implementation of tax technology and automation solutions (e.g. Avalera, Vertex, One Source, Netsuite, Oracle) to streamline compliance and reporting workflows
* Research and Monitoring: Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, assess their impact on the organization's business, and adjust strategies and policies accordingly
* Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of tax professionals, fostering collaboration and continuous learning
Key Responsibilities
