Colas' ambition is to be the world leader in innovative, sustainable mobility solutions.Job SummaryResponsible for ensuring the planning and delivery of site Operations within their remit, ensuring works are completed as per relevant specification(s), safety standards, customer requirements and in accordance with the Quality and Safety systems, along with responsibility for the financial performance of the contracts.
Managing and developing customer relationships and contributing to Tenders / Tender team.
Main activitiesManage the Human resources within your Team, liaising with the various support functions, e.g. HR and Safety etc.To programme and schedule works to maximise the efficiency of allocated ressources.To ensure preparation of relevant Construction Stage Health and Safety Plans from Preliminary Health and Safety Plans provided by client.To carry out regular inspections/audits on Temporary Traffic Management.To ensure communication by supervisors/foremen of Site Inductions, Method Statements & Safe Systems of Work (SSWP) for all visitors, employees, contractors and suppliers visiting site.
To liaise with Operations Managers / Supervisors/ Foremen and ensure proper record keeping for all aspects of the various projects Including:o Quantities of materials used on daily basis.o Plant & equipment utilisedo Labour on site o Weather recordso Safety audits, toolbox talks, task briefings, SSWPso Variations to works requirementso Any directions issued by Local Authority/Cliento Site Specific Safety Fileo Post Construction Surface Dressing RecordsTo ensure the monitoring of the quality of Surface Dressing works to ensure compliance with the "Institute of Asphalt Technology Guidelines for Surface Dressing in Ireland 3rd Edition".
To ensure coordination of testing and sampling of emulsions and aggregates in accordance with CE Marking and EN ***** Surface Dressing Requirements and EN ***** Slurry Surfacing Requirements.To ensure that all Raw Materials are ordered from Approved Suppliers only and Identify Potential Suppliers.To ensure only Approved Contractors are appointed to perform Sub-contract operations.Planning, forecasting and scheduling of works.Managing the financial performance of contracts, proactive cost management, promptly submitting invoicing / valuations.Timely completion of monthly accounts including WIP and Accruals Managerial ResponsibilitiesDirect, manage and lead contracting operations across the Republic of Ireland Safety of our all Colas Ireland employees (and our contractors) is our number one priority.
Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety (H&S), Environmental and quality standards and ensure in particular the safety of all contracting teams, operating a zero tolerance to unsafe acts and achieving a zero target for fatalities and LTIsMeet annual revenue and margin deliverables as agreed with the Head of Contracting.
Grow market share in terms of revenue, tonnage and products.Develop internal and external capability to deliver road maintenance services across the Island of Ireland including people, plant, equipment, facilities, contracting skills and external partnersMeasure performance in the areas of productivity, quality, health & safety, costs, revenue and asset management.This position is required to demonstrate Leadership and Management competencies by:Linking the team's vision to that of the organization mission.Providing clear direction and definite priorities.ProfileEducation and ExperienceAn undergraduate degree in engineering construction management or quantity surveying.
Demonstrated equivalent experience will be considered as an alternative to an advanced degree.The successful candidate should have up to 3 years prior leadership experience, preferably in a road surfacing or contracting environment.
Knowledge of contracting, estimating, project management, health & safety, and out-sourcing.
Experience with plant and machinery works.
Knowledge of Temporary Traffic Management (SLG or Traffic Management Design Qualifications) an advantage.
