The Opportunity
This role is ideal for an ambitious Finance Manager with exposure to operations or commercial activity who is keen to broaden their remit beyond traditional finance.
The position offers a hybrid finance and operations leadership role, working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team. There is a clearly defined progression pathway toward Director level and ultimately COO, with responsibility expected to grow rapidly for a high performer.
This is a pivotal role for a commercially astute finance professional who enjoys building structure, implementing best practice, and providing clear insight to support strategic decision-making. As the business scales, the role will evolve to include increased responsibility for financial strategy, governance, and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Control
* Own day-to-day financial operations, including management accounts, cash flow forecasting, working capital, revenue recognition, and cost control
* Oversee AP/AR, payroll coordination, VAT, and statutory compliance
* Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and regulators
* Ensure effective financial controls, policies, and procedures
Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting
* Lead budgeting and reforecasting in collaboration with the executive team
* Support departmental leaders with budget management and performance tracking
* Deliver clear financial and performance reporting to the CEO and executive team
* Provide analysis of variances, trends, and key business drivers
* Establish reporting frameworks for financial and non-financial KPIs
* Promote accountability and data-driven decision-making
Strategic & Executive Support
* Act as a trusted finance and commercial partner to the CEO and leadership team
* Support strategic planning, investment decisions, funding activities, grant claims, and investor reporting
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
* Experience in a Finance Manager role within a scaling SME, SaaS, or technology-led business
* Strong knowledge of financial controls, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
* Experience partnering with senior leadership teams
* Hands-on, organised, and detail-oriented
* SaaS or subscription-based business experience (desirable)
* Experience implementing finance systems, KPIs, or operational best practices
