Role OverviewAs an Automation Engineer, you’ll help design, implement, and optimize cutting-edge automation systems that support efficient manufacturing and compliance with industry standards. You’ll work cross-functionally to deliver impactful projects that enhance productivity and ensure the continued excellence of Abbott Nutrition’s operations. Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Design & OptimizationDesign and develop automation solutions to increase efficiency and support production goalsConduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for proposed systemsOversee installation, testing, and commissioning of automation equipment and softwareProject Collaboration & PlanningPartner with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define project scope and objectivesDevelop detailed project plans including timelines, budgets, and resource needsOperational Technology & SupportTroubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to automation equipment, software, and networked systemsEnsure automation systems comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and internal policiesMaintain and support SCADA, Siemens PLCs, and OSIsoft Pi systemsTraining, Documentation & ComplianceProvide training and support for end-users on system operation and maintenanceCreate and maintain user manuals, maintenance protocols, and project reportsStay current with evolving technologies and apply best practices across automation disciplines QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related fieldMinimum 2+ years of experience in automation or control systems, ideally in manufacturing or regulated industriesFamiliarity with FDA cGxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and GAMP software validation is desirableKnowledge of standards such as ANSI/ISA-S88, S95, PackML is advantageousExposure to Siemens PLCs, SCADA, and data historian systems preferred Skills & AttributesAnalytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skillsStrong communicator able to simplify complex technical topicsTeam-oriented and comfortable collaborating across departmentsProactive learner who adapts quickly to new technologies
