Role Purpose
The Pharmacy Technician will work as part of a dedicated pharmacy team to provide pharmaceutical care to the Outpatients of Blackrock Clinic and staff members in accordance with the missions, values, vision and strategic plan of the hospital.
Qualifications/Experience
All applicants must have undertaken an approved Pharmacy Technician course
Previous experience in Irish community pharmacy/hospital is desired
All applicants must preferably be proficient in the use of Touchstore Software
Key Responsibilities
Ensuring that we consistently deliver exceptional care to Outpatients and staff.
Assist in the dispensary and front of shop to ensure operational standards of best practice are met and that initiatives are implemented
Assist in the professional, clinical, ethical and financial running of the Retail Pharmacy in line with company policy and PSI guidelines
Assist the Superintendent and Support Pharmacist in the overall running of our pharmacy, with a view to growing the business and achieving goals
Communicate with the team on business performance and new initiatives
Partake in staff training events and encourage and support the development of the team, helping to empower those around you to do your best and to innovate in a fun and friendly atmosphere
Participate in all dispensing services including the assembly and double check of prescriptions / orders for outpatients and extemporaneous compounding in accordance with PSI standards, policies and safe systems of work
Participate in continuing education consistent with the post in accordance with national guidelines from the PSI/IIOP
Assist in the training of APPEL Pharmacy students in the future in collaboration with the Superintendent Pharmacist
Stock rotation, procurement and optimal utilisation in collaboration with the Pharmacy team
Ensure all claims are accurate and coded to ensure full reimbursement from the PCRS
Assist in promotional events in collaboration with the OTC assistant and superintendent Pharmacist
Assist with invoice and claim reconciliation
Provide cover for the OTC assistant in their absence.
Be an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with excellent people skills, confidence and demonstrable clinical knowledge
Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to be acutely aware of customer needs whilst being commercially astute
Have a key focus on patients and customers ensuring exemplary face-to-face interactions
Be a highly organised individual who has the ability to work under pressure.
Be a positive, committed, loyal individual who enjoys working in a collaborative environment
Be able to prioritise, multi-task and show good organisational skills in a fast-paced environment
Utilise your experience and knowledge of prescription schemes and eligibility requirements to assist patients in accessing the medicine they need and minimising waste through accurate claiming and stock rotation
Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the values of the hospital
Participate in the delivery of an excellent pharmaceutical service as part of a punctual, dedicated and professional team
Create, promote and maintain open communications and healthy working relationships with all team members and colleagues
Maintain the principles of equity, accountability and quality in the execution of your daily work.
