Electrical & Instrumentation Apprenticeship (Europe) – LotusWorks. LotusWorks is an engineering services provider specializing in commissioning, construction, calibration, operations & maintenance across global manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities
* Support the execution of Data Centre Commissioning across electrical equipment and infrastructure, coordinating with the Project Manager (PM) and Electrical & Mechanical team leads.
* Coordinate daily activities and testing lookahead; maintain daily status updates of activities, test scripts, issues, and troubleshooting. Ensure field work is completed to high standards.
* Assist during the acceptance phase of commissioning, including Level 4 Functional Performance Testing (L4 FPT), safety walks, fire watch, and completion of all commissioning efforts.
* Log issues in the Automated Commissioning Management System (ACMS) and develop a deep knowledge of project specifications and control philosophies.
* Operate safely as part of the commissioning team and adhere to site SOPs.
Responsibilities – Commissioning Details
* Support safe field execution of L2–L5 tests (IVC, PFC, FPT, IST) and cross-functional tasks in the absence of an electrical/mechanical technician.
* Troubleshoot systems, log issues, and support test script execution to capture all testing requirements.
* Develop equipment-specific method statements, System of Operation (SOO) and Description of Operation (DOO) documentation to create safe test scripts.
* Review EoR documentation for equipment upgrades and communicate changes to the commissioning team.
* Report daily test status (pass/fail/delay) and contribute to risk registries for tested assets.
* Coordinate with client, GC, vendors, and operations to resource invasive works and ensure scope alignment.
* Maintain familiarity with site SOPs and ensure compliance during all activities.
Coordination
* Daily alignment with PM and leads to prioritize work and provide updates for planning meetings.
* Attend daily morning alignment meetings with the commissioning team; follow escalation procedures for safety or business-critical events.
* Facilitate transparent communication among client, LotusWorks and stakeholders; coordinate with the client on power switching, LOTOTO, dual-fed supplies, generator testing, and utility failure scenarios.
Training
* Complete all assigned training materials and Engineering Work Instructions to maintain knowledge continuity.
* Ensure training on assets and control systems is completed on time and updated as required.
* Review and update training documents in the document management system; highlight and address deficiencies as needed.
Safety
* Collaborate with the safety team to create and review RAMS for IVC, PFC, FPT and IST; maintain Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) planning and adherence.
* Understand switching plans, manage isolation procedures, and coordinate with team members and support personnel to keep stakeholders informed.
* Prepare a daily Safe Plan of Action (SPA) outlining tasks, hazards and risk mitigation; ensure sign-off before work begins.
Apprenticeship Phases
On-The-Job with Employer: Phase 1 (min 12 months), Phase 3 (min 6 months), Phase 5 (min 6 months), Phase 7 (min 3 months).
Off-The-Job In Training Facility: Phase 2 (22 weeks), Phase 4 (22 weeks), Phase 6 (10 weeks).
Education / Licenses / Certifications
* Minimum a pass grade in all Leaving Certificate subjects (or equivalent).
