About the Role
ABP Food Group is recruiting an Internal Audit Graduate. The successful candidate will support the Head of Internal Audit and Audit Manager in protecting the Group’s assets by planning and carrying out financial audits across the UK and Europe. The role requires a high degree of travel (65–75%) and offers strong career progression opportunities.
Responsibilities
Plan financial audits by understanding organisational objectives, structure, policies, processes, internal controls and external regulations; identify risk areas, prepare audit scope and objectives, and develop audit programs.
Assess compliance with financial regulations and controls by executing audit program steps; test general ledger, account balances, balance sheets, income statements and related financial statements; examine and analyse records, reports, operating practices and documentation.
Evaluate risks and internal controls by identifying non‑compliance, assessing manual and automated financial processes, and pinpointing process weaknesses, inefficiencies and operational issues.
Verify assets and liabilities through analysis and comparison with systems and supporting documentation.
Prepare a complete paperless Audit File, inclusive of detailed Audit Working Papers, notes to file and copies of all relevant supporting documentation.
Communicate audit progress and findings in status meetings, highlight unresolved issues, review working papers and prepare final audit reports for the Head of Internal Audit and site management.
Recommend changes to strengthen controls in operational and managerial processes.
Provide financial control information by collecting, analysing and summarising data, identifying trends and areas warranting further investigation.
Contribute to team results by embracing new and different work requirements, exploring new opportunities to add value to the organisation and assisting teammates as needed.
Update job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, networking and participation in professional organisations.
Qualifications
Degree‑educated in Accounting, Finance or Business (or equivalent).
Currently working towards or interested in becoming a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail, integrity, professionalism and objectivity.
Willingness and ability to travel 65–75% across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
