Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Scientist within UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science. Research Scientist will work with in the service contract with the European Commission \"Supporting the recovery of bird species of Annex II of the Birds Directive in non-secure conservation status\" (REF.: EC-ENV/2025/OP/0023). This technical assistance is led by The Research Group in Game Resources and Wildlife Management of the Instituto de Investigacin en Recursos Cinegéticos (IREC - CSIC, UCLM, JCCM) in Spain, in conjunction with UCD and other consortium partners, Office Franaisde la Biodiversité (FR), Czech University of Life Sciences (CZ) and Czech Society of Ornithology (CZ), the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (UK), Wetlands International, Aarhus University (DK). The project will address the study of species from Annex II of the Birds Directive that are in decline, or their population stability is not considered secure enough. A specific assessment of the sustainability of hunting for the 9 species in each Member State. This role is required to provide an overview of the actions to be taken on fully resident huntable species under Annex II of the Birds Directive. Salary: €56,389-€57,900 per annum.
