Job Purpose:
To ensure the seafood processing facility operates in compliance with Irish health, safety, and environmental legislation, while also advancing the company's sustainability goals. This role plays a key part in protecting employee wellbeing, maintaining food safety standards, and reducing the environmental impact of operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety:
* Develop and implement site-specific H&S policies in line with Irish legislation (e.g., Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005).
* Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections across production, packaging, and cold storage areas.
* Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
* Deliver H&S training and toolbox talks to production staff, including safe handling of seafood, machinery, and chemicals.
* Maintain safety documentation, including Safety Statements, MSDS, and training records.
* Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g., HSA, Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority) during inspections or audits.
Sustainability:
* Support the implementation of the company's sustainability strategy, focusing on energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction.
* Monitor and report on environmental KPIs (e.g., water usage, packaging waste, CO₂ emissions).
* Promote sustainable seafood sourcing practices in collaboration with procurement and quality teams.
* Assist in achieving and maintaining environmental certifications (e.g., ISO 14001, Bord Bia Origin Green).
* Engage staff in sustainability initiatives, such as recycling programs and energy-saving campaigns.
Qualifications & Experience:
* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety.
* Qualification or experience in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field.
* Experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment (seafood industry preferred).
* Familiarity with HACCP, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
* Strong understanding of Irish H&S and environmental regulations.

* Ability to work cross-functionally with production, quality, and maintenance teams.
