Bus Éireann is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Planning and Reporting Manager to play a key role in supporting the strategic planning, financial oversight, and performance reporting of Bus Éireann and Dublin Bus operations nationwide.
This role reports directly to the Product Allocation and Financial Planning Senior Manager and provides crucial support on Product Allocations, PSO Schedule 29 audits and the implementation of Sustainability reporting requirements. A key component of this role will be supporting the Senior Manager in ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of route profitability reporting and product allocation analysis as well as collaborate with auditors and internal stakeholders to manage stakeholder audit timetables, respond to data requests, and ensure timely follow-up on prior audit actions.
This role will also assist with the reporting requirements related to EU Taxonomy the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the, ensuring compliance and alignment with regulatory expectations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple reporting and audit-related tasks effectively.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist with periodic product allocation reporting process
• Support senior manager in ensuring all product allocation processes are regularly reviewed for accuracy and appropriateness
• Provide back-up for periodic, forecasting and budget route profitability process
• Confirm annual schedule of NTA audits with auditor and ensure these are communicated to internal stakeholders
• Ensure documentation requests are provided in a timely manner, and all audit queries are responded to
• Assist with scheduling audit meetings and attend with PSO Controller
• Assist with regular status updates to management and external stakeholder auditors on outstanding prior audit findings
• Prepare periodic and quarterly updates for the Authority on PSO audits
• Ensure all queries from Authority auditors on prior audit items are responded to by date requested
• Ensure timely completion of all external stakeholder audits
• Assist with regular review of compliance with PSO contract schedules, preparing regular analysis to Senior Leadership Team on compliance with public transport contracts
• Manage PSO DAC marketing funding liaising with Commercial & PR teams on agreed budgets and variance analysis
• Assist with preparation of statutory CSRD reporting liaising with both internal and external stakeholders
• Provide assistance on financial analysis of all sustainability related spends
• Assist in managing CFO Risk Register ensuring all risks identified are clearly defined and actioned ensuring risk register is up to date at all times.
• Reporting on compliance with PSO Schedule 7 requirements and financial impacts and potential funding gaps
• Provide support on EU Taxonomy & CSRD reporting preparation
• Prepare ad hoc audit reports to CFO on audit issues
KEY SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
•Qualified accountant with at least 3 years' PQE with strong audit and Business Partnering experience.
• Experience in Cognos or similar analytics tool
• Experience in multi-entity or multi product reporting organisations
• Ability to work to strict reporting deadlines
• Experience in scheduling audits, confirming schedules with auditors, and ensuring timely communication with internal stakeholders.
• Ability to manage documentation requests, respond to audit queries, and track outstanding audit findings.
• Proficiency in preparing periodic and quarterly updates on PSO audits and ensuring compliance with PSO contract schedules.
• Familiarity with statutory CSRD reporting and EU Taxonomy requirements, as well as financial analysis of sustainability-related expenditures.
• Skills in analysing the financial impacts of PSO Schedule 7 requirements, potential funding gaps, and other sustainability-related financial matters.
• In-depth knowledge of PSO contract schedules, CSRD reporting obligations, and EU Taxonomy compliance.
• Ability to work with various departments within Bus Éireann to gather data and support reporting.
• Strong understanding of audit processes, preparing ad hoc audit reports, and collaborating with Authority auditors.
• Clear, effective communication with internal stakeholders, auditors, and external partners.
• Organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• High attention to detail when managing audit findings, documentation, and reporting requirements.
