Job Title: Metrology Programmer
Responsibilities
Program Development: Write, validate, and debug offline and online inspection programs for equipment like Optical digital comparator machine, HDV 400 Digital Measuring System
Drawing & Blueprint Interpretation: Read and evaluate 2D engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and model-based definitions
GD&T Application: Translate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements, specifications, datums, and tolerance zones into automated inspection steps.
Data & Quality Reporting: Generate dimensional layout reports, compile First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), and document product non-conformances.
Floor Support & Mentorship: Troubleshoot automated metrology equipment on the shop floor and train operators or technicians on program execution. (1, 2, 3)
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Education: An Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Metrology, or a related technical field is preferred, though equivalent hands‑on experience is widely accepted.
Metrology Software Mastery: Proficiency in industry‑standard measurement platforms like M3 Metrology Readout.
Technical Knowledge: Expert-level mastery of ASME Y14.5 / ISO GD&T standards and fundamental coordinate geometry.
Working Environment
Setting: Time is split between an office environment (for offline CAD programming) and a dynamic manufacturing plant floor or laboratory climate‑controlled environment
Physical Demands: Requires high attention to detail, handling delicate precision components, standing for periods, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
