Overview
A hospital-based position is available in a laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will be intrigued by the science of the human body and have a strong understanding of state-of-the-art laboratory instrumentation.
This role involves following established procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results. Additionally, you will analyze specimens using approved testing procedures and review and release test results.
The laboratory's safety guidelines, including CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulations, must be followed at all times. You will identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and correct them or notify a senior technologist or supervisor immediately.
Responsibilities:
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and record-keeping
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures
- Review and release test results
- Maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing samples are handled like patient specimens
Qualifications:
- Education: BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493
- Work Experience: 1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred
- LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS: ASCP Certification
