Overview
Cognitive Therapist (OT / SLT / Clinical Neuropsychologist)
Location: An Saol Foundation Centre, Santry, Dublin
Salary: Referenced to the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales
Employment Type: PT/FT (Monday to Friday), flexible (sessional considered)
Reports to: CEO or appointed representative
Join an Innovative Neurological Rehabilitation Team
The An Saol Foundation, a Section 39 registered charity, is seeking a professional to join our pioneering neurological rehabilitation and habilitation centre.
Our Centre is Ireland's first of its kind, offering long-term rehabilitation and habilitation for individuals with severe Acquired Brain Injuries (sABI).
Purpose of Role
To deliver and coordinate cognitive rehabilitation for adults living with severe Acquired Brain Injury (sABI), supporting them to maximise participation, communication, and quality of life.
The role combines direct therapy, programme planning, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
Your Role and Key Responsibilities
Assess cognitive strengths and needs (attention, memory, executive function, communication).
Design and implement individual therapy plans tailored to each client.
Deliver therapy 1:1 and in groups, adapting to very low awareness and high support needs.
Provide training and guidance to families and care staff to support carryover of strategies.
Work collaboratively with physiotherapists, music therapists, learning support specialist, families and care staff.
Contribute to reports for families, funders (HSE), and clinical records.
Participate in team meetings, reviews, and staff development activities.
Support the development of the An Saol Foundation.
Requirements
CORU registration (OT or SLT), PSI membership (Clinical Psychologist)
At least 3 years' post-qualification experience, ideally in neuro-rehabilitation.
Demonstrated ability to work with people with severe or complex needs.
Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to person-centred practice.
Experience with severe brain injury and disorders of consciousness.
Training in cognitive rehabilitation methods (e.g. errorless learning, attention retraining).
Experience in family training and multidisciplinary rehabilitation.
Salary / Rate
Commensurate with experience.
Benchmark: corresponding HSE salary scales of agreed sessional/locum rates.
