The team builds and operates the complete lifecycle of a database cluster, from creation to operation to scaling and fail-over.

Amazon Aurora Serverless Control Plane does all this and more.
Amazon Aurora is a cloud-native relational database that combines the scalability and performance of NoSQL databases with full compatibility to MySQL and PostgreSQL.
It can store petabytes of data and handle millions of queries per second.
As a Software Development Manager, you will own a core part of the Control Plane charter, responsible for Aurora Serverless v2 and its wide array of enterprise features.
Key Responsibilities
Manage people, product and project delivery with technical leadership, setting the team's roadmap and working closely with support teams, senior engineers, and other managers within AWS.
Handle on-call responsibilities, including weekly weekend on-call triage and root-cause analysis.
Grow and foster talent from junior to senior developers.
Establish mechanisms to run the team efficiently and prioritize balance backlog.
Work with product management and engineering teams on roadmap strategy and prioritization.
Share updates with the leadership team on deliverables.
Review designs and shape team design documents.
Manage and drive operational ownership of the team.
Collaborate with customers to gather feedback, shape vision, define roadmaps, and deliver customer-facing and operational features.
Guide technical decisions, challenge assumptions, and drive change to enable scalable growth.
About the Team
The team focuses on customer development experience and often operates across the organization, collaborating closely with Aurora Serverless, Aurora Storage, and Aurora Platform teams.
Basic Qualifications
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/network development life cycle.
Experience in engineering team management.
Experience in engineering and leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
Experience partnering with product and program management teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness.
