Our gift shop plays a key role in extending the visitor journey, showcasing Irish craft, culture and creativity.We're now looking for a Retail Assistant Manager to help us deliver memorable experiences, support the running of our shop, and contribute to commercial growth on-site and online.What you'll doYou'll work closely with the Head of Retail, lead the store team day-to-day, and bring energy, organisation and creativity to this busy visitor-facing environmentReports to: Head of RetailSalary: €34,000 - €38,000People LeadershipLead and motivate the team on the shop floor, modelling world class customer engagementCoach the team, nurture a positive culture and drive performance against targetsManage the roster, task allocation and workflowDeliver product training and maintain training materials, guides & bookletGift Shop OperationsSupport daily gift shop operations and commercial targetsOversee merchandising and seasonal displaysManage POS, cash handling, product standards, waste and stock processesModel and drive exceptional customer service and product/supplier knowledgeCreate and update SOPs for consistency and best practiceLiaise with Facilities regarding maintenance issues and escalationsMaintain Health & Safety, security and emergency proceduresManage online shop fulfilment including shipping, orders and customer communicationBrand RepresentationAct as a warm, informed ambassador for EPIC and Irish retail craftLead the 'fond farewell' ensuring that visitors see the gift shop as an extension to their visit to the museumChampion responsible sustainable retail practiceWhat you bringCapabilities and StrengthsAbility to lead and motivate a team on a busy shop floorOrganised, calm under pressure and solutions-focusedCreative eye for merchandising, display and in-store storytellingAble to coach others and grow product knowledge in the teamComfortable with retail systems and improving workflowsPassion for culture, craft, visitors and creating great retail momentExperience3-5 years previous retail supervisory or assistant manager experienceExperience working driving sales against a set of targetsWhat success looks like in 6 monthsYou can confidently run the shop day to dayYou have built trust with the team and developed strong product knowledgeYou have contributed ideas that improved sales, ATVs or retail experience qualityMaybe you don't meet every requirement but you have the capability and enthusiasm?
