With teams across the US, Europe, and Asia, we collaborate with customers and partners to design and deliver innovative solutions. As a technical leader, you will lead a global team in creating CNS solutions for commercial aviation stakeholders.
The Applied Research & Technology (ART) organization in Cork seeks an Associate Director with expertise in next-generation CNS technologies to lead the Connected Systems group. Responsibilities include project execution, technology transition, staff development, strategic planning, business development, and stakeholder engagement. Our partners include engineering organizations, universities, small businesses, and industry peers, serving both internal and external customers.
What YOU will do:
* Identify and oversee projects across multiple business lines
* Define and communicate long-term strategies for connected and networking technologies
* Work with business leaders to develop operational CNS concepts and solutions
* Promote training and engagement among technical staff
* Develop and demonstrate technology prototypes for transition to business units
* Market innovative technologies to external customers and influence industry standards
* Represent Collins in national and international working groups and standards bodies
What YOU will learn:
* Advanced communications research to enhance technical skills and leadership
* Methods to mature and transition communication technologies in connected aviation ecosystems
Education & Experience:
* Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical, or Computer Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience
Skills you must have:
* Experience in CNS research & development from concept to transition, including communication waveforms, protocols, network design, satellite navigation, etc.
* Managing cost and schedule performance in deadline-driven environments
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
* Leadership experience mentoring engineers
* Willingness to travel up to 20%
Skills we Value:
* Knowledge of aerospace CNS technologies and standards (SAE, AIAA, ICAO)
* Experience in aerospace industry
