You will ensure that projects are completed within budget and to the highest standards. This role requires a sound understanding of the construction process, excellent cost management skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. As Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in the pre-construction phase and ensuring the company's ongoing success in securing and delivering projects.Key ResponsibilitiesPreparation of cost plans from early feasibility through to detailed cost planning ready for handover to project team.Participation in design team meetings through the design phases and reporting back to the Commercial Director.Relaying essential information back to the Senior Management team to ensure that the design reflects the most efficient unit types, unit and project layouts and building materials when progressing a scheme design.Benchmarking data from live projects to aid in preparation of budgets.Preparation of Bills of Quantities for upcoming developments, interpreting those BoQ's to provide site teams with working documents and budgets.Help develop / maintain a database of construction costs to assist the ongoing Estimating and Financial Appraisal process.Prepare subcontract and supplier enquiries and provide a detailed analysis for each package for review and agreement with the Senior Management team.Assisting in the preparation of Part V applications to Local Authorities and follow those submissions to ensure compliance is achieved.Conduct detailed cost analysis, value engineering, and cost optimization to enhance project profitability.Attend meetings and undertake site visits.Key Skills & CompetenciesAttention to Detail: High level of accuracy and precision in setting out and measurementsProblem-Solving: Ability to identify issues on-site and provide effective solutions.Organisational Skills: Strong planning and organizational abilities, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and the use of surveying equipmentTeam Player: Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including subcontractors, engineers, and project managersAdaptability: Flexible approach to work, capable of adjusting to project demands and challenges.Ability to manage tender documentation and be punctual with reports.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or a related field.6+ years of post-graduate experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, ideally in a similar role.Professional Accreditation: SCSI membership or equivalent.Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost planning. Good knowledge of subcontractors, construction outputs, and of labour, plant and material prices.Residential Construction experience preferredSolid understanding of data analysis methodsStrong proficiency in cost management software such as Buildsoft-Cubit, Cost-Ex or equivalent.
