Project Manager – Energy Markets
We're recruiting for a
Project Manager
to support the delivery of large-scale regulatory, market, and system services programmes within the electricity sector.
This is a high-impact role within the
Future Power Markets
landscape, offering exposure to complex market reform, system services development, and infrastructure-enabling initiatives in a highly regulated environment.
The Role
As Project Manager, you will support and lead the delivery of key programmes that underpin the evolution of Ireland's electricity market.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing projects across Future Power Markets workstreams, including Scheduling & Dispatch, FASS, DASSA, SEMOpx developments, and long-duration energy storage
* Translating regulatory and market requirements into clear, structured project plans
* Ensuring timely delivery of market and system services changes supporting commercial, trading, compliance, and operational objectives
* Owning project governance artefacts, including project plans, risk registers, RAID logs, dashboards, and senior stakeholder reporting
* Proactively identifying, managing, and escalating risks and issues to support informed decision-making
* Supporting procurement activities, including RFT preparation, tender evaluations, and contract negotiations
* Leading business readiness activities such as testing, training coordination, communications, and cutover planning
* Collaborating cross-functionally with Trading, Operations, Technology, Finance, Treasury, Legal, Procurement, and other internal stakeholders
* Contributing to continuous improvement across programme governance, reporting, and delivery performance
About You
You are a delivery-focused Project Manager with experience operating in regulated, technical, or market-driven environments.
You will ideally have:
* A third-level degree (minimum 2:1) in Business, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Energy Systems, or a related discipline
* 2+ years' experience in project management, project coordination, or business change roles
* Experience within energy, utilities, or other regulated sectors
* Strong project management skills, including planning, risk and issue management, governance reporting, and stakeholder engagement
* Knowledge of the
Single Electricity Market (SEM)
, including SEMOpx and scheduling & dispatch processes
* Understanding of
EirGrid's Future Power Markets Programme
, including FASS, DASSA, DS3, market coupling, or long-duration storage
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
* Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
* Familiarity with PRINCE2, PMP, or Agile methodologies (advantageous but not essential)
