EXTERNAL COMPETITION Ref No:2025/100 Senior Dietitian Womens Health ? TITLE AND GRADE:Senior Dietitian for Womens Health (Permanent) REPORTING TO:Dietitian Manager ROLE SUMMARY:The Senior dietitian will be required to work collaboratively with other dietetic and MDT colleagues to provide patient centred care to women within their area of assignment. HOURS OF WORK:Full-time, 35 Hours per week (Mon-Fri). Flexibility in working hours may be required to match service needs. This position has arisen to support expansion of dietetic services to the new endometriosis hub. The Senior dietitian will be required to work collaboratively with other dietetic and MDT members to provide patient-centred care to women within their area of assignment (including endometriosis and some maternity and diabetes in pregnancy care).Services will be predominantly outpatient-based (including in-person and telehealth) and may also include some group education. PERSON SPECIFICATION: Professional Qualifications and statutory registration Essential: Registered as a dietitian with the Dietitians Registration Board of CORU(proof required) Clinical experience and knowledge 3 years full time (or an aggregate of 3 years full time) post qualification dietetic experience [Suitable candidates with less than 3 years clinical experience may be considered and appointed at Staff Grade and regraded to Senior after 3 years]. Desirable Experience in a womens health (gynaecology, maternity) or diabetes clinical setting. Experience delivering a dietetic service in groups and via telehealth platforms. Formal training in behaviour change/motivational interviewing Skills and attributes: The requisite clinical skills, knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and professional ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the office. Knowledge of relevant national policies and clinical guidelines. Excellent communication and presentation skills, at both individual and group level. Is caring, empathetic and patient and can apply behaviour change and motivational interview skills. Strong interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining good working relationships and working as part of a team. Is confident, self-motivated, innovative and reliable and capable of working on ones own initiative. Demonstrates a strong patient-centred ethos and takes pride in the quality of service delivered. Excellent problem solving, organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to be flexible and adaptable and balance demands with responsibilities. Demonstrate dedication to maintaining CPD in this area with a willingness to develop new skills when required. Willingness to contribute and participated in audit, evaluation, quality improvement. Clinical duties Plan, co-ordinate and provide a clinical nutrition service (in-patient, out-patient, telehealth and group education) to patients referred from services in the area of clinical assignment. Work collaboratively with other dietetic department members and the MDT Develop, implement and monitor care plans to meet patients individual needs using evidence-based practice and a multidisciplinary approach to deliver high quality care. Participate in health promoting activities within the hospital. Assist in development, implementation and review care pathways, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines, as required Use communication and teaching skills to educate and support a diverse and multicultural population with complex barriers to understanding and a diverse cuisine. Support initiatives in line with the departments quality improvement and strategic plan(s). Observe and maintain strict confidentiality of information relating to staff and patients in-line with GDPR. Develop and disseminate relevant and culturally appropriate nutrition resources and information materials for patients and staff. Impart information in a clear way to staff, patients. Make an appropriate contribution to audit and research. Education and Continuous Professional Development Work within professional scope of practice and participate in clinical supervision and performance review. Undertake personal continuing education and training as necessary to maintain a high level of competency in carrying out the tasks required including keeping up-to-date with current clinical developments in maternal and womens health nutrition. Contribute to the provision of practice placement education for nutrition and dietetic student supervision and other department members as required. Provide relevant education and training as required on relevant topics to medical, nursing and pharmacy staff and students Liaise / collaborate with Dietetic colleagues in other settings, as required. Participate in mandatory training as required and other recommended training programmes relevant to the role. Administrative Duties Responsible for daily administrative tasks and overall caseload management for area of assignment. Participate in team meetings and department meetings. Use ICT systems efficiently and effectively Maintain appropriate dietetic records and record statistics of clinical activity. Where required, represent the department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics through effective engagement and communication with other Healthcare Professionals Engage in service-planning activities in collaboration with other dietetic team members and dietitian manager Comply with department policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines Prepare progress reports / statistics as required The above is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties involved and consequently, the post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post which may be assigned to him/her from time to time and to contribute to the development of the post while in office.
