Reason for Vacancy
The company, owned by two managers with ambitious growth plans, requires a Transport Planner to work within the Transport Department, reporting to the Transport Manager. This is a full-time role based at the Transport Department in Kilcohan, Waterford.
A Day in the Life of a Transport Planner
* Oversee & Supervise daily operations in the absence of the supervisor, including picking, putting away, scheduling deliveries, and collections.
* Establish work schedules & assign jobs in the absence of the supervisor.
* Maintain workflow efficiency through space, machinery, and personnel management.
* Ensure work completion according to SOPs.
* Delegate work to employees and provide feedback as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
* Act as the point of contact for drivers and subcontractors, liaising daily to ensure service quality.
* Manage onboarding and setup of new hauliers.
* Coordinate with plants, suppliers, and customers to ensure service quality and handle complaints or requests.
* Manage transport-related costs.
* Participate in performance reviews of drivers, equipment, and subcontractors.
Training
* Facilitate internal and external training or accreditation as needed.
* Provide driver training programs regularly to meet site requirements.
Health & Safety
* Review telematics data to manage driver behavior and EH&S impact.
Reporting
* Plan daily driver routes, allocate equipment, and reconcile paperwork for invoicing.
Compliance
* Ensure adherence to GDP, ISO 9001, ISO 45001, BRC standards, and company policies.
* Ensure all drivers and hauliers comply with site entry requirements.
* Update systems timely for smooth operations.
* Analyze reports including routing, mileage, tachographs, and truck maintenance.
Experience & Skills
* Proven experience in Transport planning.
* Effective liaison with stakeholders.
* Results-driven with performance capability in a fast-paced environment.
* Valid driver’s license; forklift license and warehouse experience are advantageous.
* Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
