Threat Intelligence Specialist
This role is responsible for owning and executing Canonical's threat intelligence strategy, including understanding of which cyber threat actors are targeting Canonical. The Threat Intelligence Specialist will collaborate with internal stakeholders as well as with the wider cybersecurity community to ensure that Canonical is recognized as a thought leader on open source threat intelligence.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
* Building and maintaining OSINT research environments
* Developing OSINT tradecraft, principles, and techniques
* Identifying and tracking targeted intrusion cyber threats, trends, and new developments by cyber threat actors through analysis of proprietary and open source datasets
* Collaborating across teams to inform on activity of interest
* Coordinating adversary/campaign tracking
* Contributing to the wider threat intelligence community, establishing Canonical as a key contributor and thought leader in the space
* Working with product and engineering teams to explain cybersecurity threats and advise on mitigation strategies
* Working with the OPSEC and IS team to help implement/update security controls prioritizing cyber defence
* Identifying intelligence gaps and proposing new tools and research projects to fill them
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
* Experience in threat intelligence leadership or similar
* Knowledge of the current open source threat landscape and computer networking/infrastructure concepts
* Highly competent skills with OSINT tools (e.g., Buscador, Trace Labs OSINT VM, OSINT Framework, Maltego, Shodan, social media scraping tools, etc.)
* Able to identify, organize, catalogue, and track adversary tradecraft trends — often with incomplete data
* Experience using threat intelligence data to influence enterprise architecture or product development decisions
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate and tailor technical content to a variety of audiences
