Director of Aircraft Maintenance Operations
STS Technical Services is hiring a Director of Aircraft Maintenance Operations in Waterford, Michigan.
This is a direct hire leadership opportunity responsible for overseeing maintenance, avionics, and interior operations within a Part 145 aircraft maintenance environment.
Position Overview
The Director of Maintenance Operations is responsible for the overall leadership and management of Maintenance, Avionics, and Interior departments.
This role ensures all operational functions are aligned with regulatory requirements, company standards, and strategic objectives.
The position is accountable for driving financial performance, operational efficiency, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction.
This role reports directly to the VP of Maintenance Operations and Advisory Services and serves as the FAA Part 145 Accountable Manager under FAR *******.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and oversight for aircraft maintenance operations, avionics design and certification, and interior refurbishment programs
Ensure compliance with all FAA regulations, company policies, and safety standards
Establish performance metrics and maintain quality standards in accordance with regulatory and company requirements
Drive operational efficiency and financial performance through process development and continuous improvement initiatives
Partner with internal stakeholders to support production, procurement, quality, logistics, and administrative functions
Develop and implement strategic and tactical plans, including departmental goals, policies, and procedures
Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance personnel, including hiring, training, performance management, and employee engagement
Address and resolve customer and internal issues in a proactive and timely manner
Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
Ensure adherence to industry best practices, including IS-BAO and ARGUS standards
Stay current with regulatory changes and advancements in aircraft maintenance and avionics technologies
Prepare and deliver reports related to operational performance and planning
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Engineering or a related field
5 to 10 years of experience in MRO, aircraft operations, and production management within business aviation
Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations and compliance requirements
Must meet Director of Maintenance qualifications per FAR ******(e) for large turbine aircraft operations
Experience with FAA Supplemental Type Certification processes required
Previous designation as a Systems and Equipment DER highly preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience with Corridor MRO or similar maintenance software preferred
