Obelisk is an internationally competitive professional engineering services business. We provide infrastructure solutions for the telecoms and power sectors in Ireland and UK. In April 2022, Obelisk was acquired by Constructel Visabeira, a Portuguese telecommunications and energy service provider with a turnover in the region of €1.5bn per annum, operating across mainland Europe and in the US.

The Civil Supervisor will have full responsibility to deliver customer projects on behalf of the Account Manager working in a time sensitive and deadline driven environment

Key Responsibilities

* Managing multiple projects across both urban and rural environments.

* Liaising with clients and their representatives to ensure successful project delivery and strong relationship-building.

* Review construction drawings, conduct site surveys, and prepare detailed work scopes.

* Amending designs based on feedback and project requirements.

* Lead and manage both in-house teams and subcontractors to drive on-site performance.

* Coordinating with Operations / Account managers and other Site Agents to manage site activities and resource needs.

* Meeting client expectations while building trust and confidence.

* Continuously improving project delivery processes through critical evaluation.

* Introducing and applying innovative technologies to enhance service delivery and efficiency.

* Mentoring design and site teams; identifying training needs among junior staff.

* Monitoring project progress to ensure completion on time and within budget.

* Oversee material procurement, ensure best pricing, place orders, and compile Bill of Materials for each project.

* Ensure strict compliance with client specifications, safety regulations, and maintain high project quality standards.

* Overseeing traffic management and on-site health and safety, including required safety inspections.

* Coordinating with local authorities for pre- and post-work inspections of footways.

* Working with scheduling teams to manage workflow and programme delivery.

* Providing regular status updates to clients; serving as the first point of contact for public and subcontractor queries.

* Professionally handling customer complaints regarding completed works.

* Collaborating with clients to help maximise the value of their infrastructure.

* Managing required administrative duties in a timely and efficient manner.

* Performing additional tasks as required by the business.

* Updating internal and external work management systems

Key Requirements

* Full, clean driver's licence.

* Relevant qualification in engineering or equivalent (desirable).

* Experience in civil engineering, drainage, or utilities

* Ability to read and interpret construction designs and drawings.

* Commercial awareness of project budgeting and costs.

* Experience working with multiple teams and managing site operations.

* Strong knowledge of Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) standards.

* Understanding of ground support systems and safe excavation practices.

* Proficient in standard computer applications and project management tools.

* Self-motivated and capable of working independently and as part of a team.

* Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

* Strong organisational and time management skills.

* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service abilities.

* Professional integrity and respect for confidentiality.

* Ensuring that all critical path items for site builds are completed, organised, and tracked (Build & Maintenance).

* Writing, reviewing, and updating Risk Assessments and Method Statements prior to site work.

* Overseeing contractors to ensure that site work meets our quality and safety standards.

* Collaborating on multiple projects and liaising with key stakeholders and contractors.

* Utilising client-specific IT tools.

* Resolving and tracking faults while liaising with crews.

* Arranging equipment call-offs and reviewing the Bill of Materials for upcoming site builds to ensure accuracy.

* Addressing build and technology queries based on customer interactions.

* Escalating and reporting on out-of-scope work to the Account Manager and Commercial Department.

* Managing costs by ensuring daily measurements are submitted and that budgets are monitored throughout the project.

* Coordinating with Contracting Partners and Obelisk Staff to ensure site builds are completed to specifications.

* Exercising cost control over all work conducted by subsidiary companies.

* Ensuring the accuracy of detailed designs.

Certifications/Qualifications Required

* Extensive experience within the telecoms, renewables, civils, and construction industries.

* Excellent knowledge of process improvement methodologies.

* Fully proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

* Ability to take initiative, multitask, work to deadlines, and work under pressure.

* Decisive, structured, energetic, and highly motivated individual.

* Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen.

* A leader with the drive to create a high-performing competency-based culture.

* Strong communication skills.

* Experience in project management and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.

* Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards.
