In Ireland, Abbott currently employs about 6,000 people across ten sites located in Dublin, Donegal, Clonmel, Cootehill, Galway, Kilkenny, Longford and Sligo.Please note this role can be based either in Sligo, Galway or Cherrywood Dublin.Please note any offer of employment for this position is conditional upon the successful completion of a pre-employment medical examination, including drug and alcohol screening, conducted by a medical practitioner designated by the Company.Purpose of RoleThe Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the CFS Finance Manager with a range of accounting, financial analysis, internal control and administration activities along with other statutory reporting requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesComplete month end accounting activities (e.g. journal entries, reconciliations) for in scope entities.Financial analysis and reporting for in scope entities, including preparation of financial packs for quarterly board meetings.Support delivery of statutory accounts aligned with corporate, country/legal entity timelines.Build relationships and interact with key stakeholders to provide support, technical expertise and accounting guidance.Liaise with Internal and External Auditors as required.Ensure that the internal control environment for in scope entities is operating as intended and that any improvements are implemented in a timely fashion.Responsible for ensuring quality and on time completion for month end activities (journals, account recs) and performance reporting for entities in scope.Support the team's efforts on continuous improvement, and liaise with CFS EMEA hub to ensure end to end process improvement opportunities are identified and implementedDevelop and improve processes and systems as required to ensure more efficient delivery of value-add information to both internal and external stakeholders.Support the CFS Ireland team to perform ad hoc and other special projects assignments, as required.Key RequirementsQualified Accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMABS degree in Accounting or Finance desirable3+ years relevant experience in a complex global environment – preferably within a multi-currency, US GAAP based financial close environmentStrong written and verbal communication skills are essentialSAP or other major ERP Systems experience is desirableInternal controls / Internal audit experience within a multi-national environment desirableHands-on and self-starter mentalityAble to manage responsibilities independentlyExcellent financial analysis skills with ability to summarise data into high quality deliverables.Strong computer skills especially MS Office & Power BI.Minimum Language SkillsFluent in English essentialFor further information, and to apply, please visit our website via the "Apply" button below.
