Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.
We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.
You'll collaborate across AWS to deliver safety and security while providing capacity at the lowest possible cost, in an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers ownership to completion.
Responsibilities
Ownership of all Data Center changes/events/incidents/problems from beginning to end, including overseeing post-mortems, root cause analysis, and follow-up resolution actions.
Ensure maintenance and repairs of site-critical facility infrastructure or a Data Center are planned and executed in the best interest of the business.
Asset and inventory management.
Develop and maintain method statements, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and all technical documentation.
Standardize and maintain best-in-class operating practices, including technical writing and automation.
Develop deep knowledge of design intent, operational alternatives, and contingency plans for all Data Center systems.
Manage engineering aspects related to financial and cost control, code and regulatory compliance, personnel management, and staff training and development.
Health & Safety, local statutory requirements, environmental and energy management compliance.
Develop and deliver regular engineering reports and ensure adherence to contracted deliverables including SLAs and KPIs.
Communicate operating philosophies, technical information, objectives, and expectations to Amazon personnel and to vendor critical facilities management teams.
Provide hands-on facility support as required (e.g., installation or decommissioning of equipment, replacement of faulty equipment, internal audits).
Oversee technical compliance auditing and timely closure of corrective action plans; perform annual operational reviews focused on Amazon standards and regulatory requirements.
Manage the development and delivery of Energy/Environmental Management Programs and stay informed on Data Center industry innovation.
Incident and Emergency Response
Review incident reports, document trend summaries, and provide updates and recommended actions to management.
Manage information flow during incidents and provide regular updates to management.
Coordinate with vendors to resolve incidents during emergencies; may require on-site dispatch to investigate and resolve issues.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Minimum 6-8 years of Data Center operations and on-call support experience for Data Center facilities.
Minimum 2-3 years managing Data Center infrastructure with exposure to power generation, manufacturing, panel, or mission-critical facilities; capable of issue resolution to circuit level.
A technical degree (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering) or a diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 4 years experience in generation/manufacturing/panel/mission-critical facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong understanding of Electrical systems in data centers (utility substation feeds, transformers, switchgear, VFI Class UPS, DRUPS, PDUs, ATS, STS, batteries, fuel systems, battery monitoring, SCADA, etc.).
Strong understanding of Mechanical systems (CRAC/CRAH/air handlers, chillers, cooling towers, piping, pumps, valves, ductwork, fans, dampers) and other facilities systems (fire detection/suppression, plumbing, Building Monitoring Systems, automatic controls).
Experience with design, procurement, suitability testing, and commissioning.
Certifications (positive but not mandatory): PMP, Prince2, ITIL v2/3, BICSI, ASHRAE, CDCP/S/E or equivalent.
