We are a leading construction company delivering commercial, retail, leisure, industrial, healthcare and data centre projects in Ireland and the UK. With significant growth in recent years, we continue to seek top professionals to drive our business forward. We are now looking for an experienced estimator with a background in the building industry in Ireland.
As Estimator, your key responsibilities will include:
* Preparing winning tender submissions at best price in competitive budgeting situations.
* Producing estimates by gathering proposals, quotes, specifications and related documents.
* Identifying opportunities and deficits in tender documents to gain commercial leverage.
* Obtaining quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, computing costs and maintaining a fit-for-purpose cost database.
* Analysing, evaluating and performing risk analysis on supplier and subcontract packages.
* Working with the QS function in pre-contract negotiations.
* Liaising with the Chief Estimator and senior management on contractual concerns and ensuring timely notice and submission of necessary documents.
* Engaging with the commercial/project team to agree budgets prior to the pre-start handover meeting.
* Managing and controlling preliminary budgets for the tender process.
* Maintaining client relationships throughout commercial negotiations.
* Compiling and maintaining cost data reports.
* Building and maintaining long-term relationships with key stakeholders.
* Reviewing technical publications, tracking price trends and regulatory changes.
The ideal candidate will have:
* 1+ years of relevant experience.
* A third-level qualification in engineering, construction, quantity surveying or a related field.
* Good knowledge of construction outputs, labour, plant and material prices.
* Fundamental financial acumen and strong commercial awareness.
* A good understanding of data analysis methods.
* The ability to work as part of a team.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Ability to manage tender documentation and meet report deadlines.
* A methodical, analytical mindset with attention to detail.
* The capacity to work under pressure and manage stress effectively.
