Purpose of the Post
The Social Work Team Leader will provide professional leadership and management to a Social Work team within the Intensive Family Support (IFS) Safety & Welfare Team, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, child‑centred services in line with Tusla policies, national practice frameworks, and statutory responsibilities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Provide day‑to‑day operational management and professional supervision to social work staff
Ensure effective case management, risk assessment, and decision‑making in relation to child welfare and protection concerns
Support social workers in managing complex and high‑risk cases, promoting reflective and evidence‑based practice
Monitor and manage workload allocation, ensuring service priorities are met
Ensure compliance with Children First, relevant legislation, Tusla procedures, and national practice standards
Liaise with internal services and external agencies to support integrated service delivery
Contribute to service planning, reporting, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Promote a positive team environment that supports professional development and best practice
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must, on the latest date for receipt of applications:
Hold a recognised professional qualification in Social Work
Be registered on the Social Workers Register maintained by CORU
Have relevant post‑qualification experience, including experience in child protection and/or child welfare services
Demonstrate previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role
Have a thorough knowledge of Tusla practice models, policies, and statutory functions
Demonstrate strong leadership, organisational, communication, and decision‑making skills
